Join our Volunteer team!

We’re looking for new volunteers to join our team in a variety of roles!

We rely on over 70 volunteers all playing a vital role at Salford Foodbank and helping us to support and feed over 380 people in crisis every week.

Do you have some spare time? Do you want to make a real difference across Salford? Would you like to join a social team of volunteers?

We’re looking for people who can commit to joining a regular volunteer shift each week, or every other week. Most shifts are between 2-3 hours.

Warehouse volunteers

Work alongside our warehouse coordinator and a team of volunteers to help keep everything running smoothly. Tasks include sorting donations, packing food parcels, and keeping the warehouse organised. This is a hands-on role that requires teamwork, reliability, and some lifting (where you are able to). We distribute an average of 240 parcels a week, so it can be busy! You’ll be at the heart of how our foodbank operates. This role is based at our warehouse and office in Media City (M50 2GL).

Foodbank centre volunteers

Help at one of our centres in Salford. Alongside a team of fellow volunteers, you will be preparing and organising food parcels, while helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for anyone using the foodbank. You’ll be one of the friendly faces welcoming people, and making them feel comfortable, respected, and supported while receiving their food parcel.

Surplus food volunteer drivers

Help collect surplus food donations from local supermarkets and community donation points from all over Salford, ensuring valuable food reaches our foodbanks instead of going to waste. Using your own vehicle, you’ll collect donated food before delivering it to our warehouse. This is a vital role that helps us maximise the donations we receive and support people in need! Collections are flexible and can fit around your availability, with donations dropped off during the warehouse opening hours (weekdays 9am until 3pm).

Christmas fundraising event support volunteers

We’re arranging a Foodbank Christmas Run taking place at Salford Quays this December. It’s the first time we’ve put on a big fundraising run so we’re looking for a small team of volunteers to support in making the event a big success. Tasks will include promoting the event across businesses, schools and community groups in Salford and being there on the day to support the runners.
